Summer Holiday Guitar Workshop for Kids + Adults is all about guitar fun! Play guitar with other guitarists, learn new songs/pieces, develop your sight-reading skills, music theory fun, play in an ensemble, learn chords and develop your confidence in performing to an audience! This is the workshop if you want to enhance your playing skills! If you are doing an A.M.E.B. examination, this is where you can fine-tune your pieces and technical work alongside other aspects of the exam. A two-day workshop with a finale performance showcasing what is learnt at the workshop.
Beginners are welcome!

Sight Reading – increase your music reading skills and advance to the next level in your technique
Guitar Ensemble – play fun and exciting pieces in a group
Guitar Chords – learn how chords are made up and apply them to any song
Solo Guitar – develop your solo performance skills and play out your best tune
Technique Class – improve your finger dexterity agility across the fretboard

With the Tutors of Sydney Guitar School and Special Guest, Mr Christopher Keane
Christopher Keane began teaching himself guitar in his teens, later studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. During the 1980s and 90s he was a member of the Sydney Guitar Quartet and toured New South Wales for Musica Viva. He has also played as a session musician in productions such as West Side Story, Cabaret, 42nd Street and Canterbury Tales, on TV ads and on soundtracks of Australian films.
It was at this time he began publishing Australian music for solo guitar, guitar orchestra, mandolin orchestra, concert band and string orchestra and to date has produced 45 books. Some of this music been recorded under his direction with the Sydney Guitar Orchestra and appears on the Jade label. He was the Conductor of the Sydney Mandolin Orchestra from 2000 to 2012 and supervised the production of their CD Quiver. In 2004 the guitar orchestra frEternity, recorded an entire CD of this music. Much of this repertoire has been performed in Europe, Britain and the USA and surprisingly one of his compositions Bondi Stomp even managed to make its way to the White House where it was performed before President George W Bush and staff.
In 2010 he was commissioned to compose the sight-reading test pieces and the sight-reading book for the AMEB guitar syllabus, and has served as the syllabus consultant for the AMEB in NSW for over 20 years.
He has adjudicated for the Sydney Eisteddfod and conducted workshops, masterclasses and examined final recitals in a large number of conservatoriums and universities in Eastern Australia.
In 2007 he performed the Piazzolla Bandoneon and Guitar concerto with the Sydney Grammar School String Orchestra and later the Nova String Orchestra. The Nova performance was broadcast on Fine Music 102.5.
While a member of Plektra he played at Eurofestival Zupfmusik in Germany and was invited to perform at the Classical Mandolin of America Festival. Plektra recorded a self-titled CD that was released in 2012.
